# The Back Kitchen

> The Back Kitchen (the Amherst Island Community Café) is a volunteer-led, not-for-profit community café in Stella on Amherst Island, Ontario, Canada — a short ferry ride from Millhaven, west of Kingston in Eastern Ontario. It is the only restaurant on the island, open seasonally (roughly May through Thanksgiving), serving fresh, locally made food for takeout and dine-in. The site also publishes a local visitor guide to Amherst Island and the island's community event calendar.
