Our Final Summer Sunday Dinner is August 31! We’re wrapping up the season with one last Summer Sunday Dinner at The Back Kitchen and you're not gonna want to miss this one.
Returning guest chef Paul Phillipson and sous chef Jill Finney are back with an Indonesian-inspired menu based on recipes from The BamBoo Cooks! - a cookbook from the now-legendary Queen West Toronto restaurant, the BamBoo. Known for its bold flavours and vibrant music scene, the BamBoo was a cultural hub through the ‘80s and ‘90s, and this dinner pays tribute to that legacy.
Here’s what’s on the menu:
- Fresh greens with lemon, poppyseed & ginger dressing, grapefruit + toasted slivered almonds
- Crispy shrimp chips with bamboo peanut sauce
- Grilled Indonesian chicken satay with fresh thyme and Thai basil (Amherst-grown)
- Mushroom, eggplant, plum & red onion satay
- Coconut basmati rice
- Ginger spice cake
