The Amherst Island Community Cafe (colloquially known as “The Back Kitchen”) is a volunteer-led, not-for-profit restaurant located on beautiful Amherst Island. As the island’s only restaurant, we serve as a vital community hub that brings people together over fresh, locally made food in a safe, welcoming space.

Open seasonally, we support the local economy through a federally funded summer youth jobs program, and we collaborate with community organizations across the island by sharing resources, volunteering time, and offering in-kind donations. Our mission is to serve our community, foster meaningful connections, support youth and local initiatives, and create a warm, inclusive space for Islanders and visitors alike.
